Tips for Visiting Historic Savannah During Peak Tourist Season

I've lived in Savannah for a few years now and I've learned a thing or two about navigating the city during the summer months when all the tourists come. One thing that's helped me avoid the crowds is visiting some of the lesser-known historic homes, like the Owens-Thomas House on Bull Street - it's a great example of Regency architecture and usually has shorter lines than some of the more popular mansions. Does anyone have any other tips for making the most of a visit to Savannah in August?
